Prayer for our Nation

Prayer for our Nation

God our Father,
Giver of Life, Mercy, Love, and Blessings, we entrust the United States of America to Your loving care.
You are the rock on which this nation was founded.
You alone are the true source of our cherished rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Reclaim this land for Your glory and dwell among Your people.
Send Your Spirit to touch the hearts of our nation's leaders.
Open their minds to the great worth of human life and the responsibilities that accompany human and religious freedom.
Remind Your people that true happiness is rooted in seeking and doing Your will.
Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, Patroness of our land, grant us the courage to embrace the "Culture of Life" and may there be respect for the individual person, the sacredness of each person’s life, and their God-given dignity through all the stages of life.
Lead us into a new millennium of life, love, compassion, and mercy.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Be a Faithful Citizen - Prepare to Vote on Election Day

Be a Faithful Citizen
Prepare to Vote on Election Day
As Catholics, we are part of a community with profound teachings that help us consider challenges in public life, contribute to greater justice and peace for all people, and evaluate policy positions, party platforms, and candidates’ promises and actions in light of the Gospel in order to help build a better world.
In that spirit, we have compiled a series of resources to help to educate you about some of the topics of import to Catholics. The Diocese of Harrisburg neither supports nor opposes any candidate for public office.

Lectio: Eucharist // Promo from Formed on Vimeo.

Daniels’s Recommendation:
“The Lectio Eucharist series was one of my favorite ones. He made a comment at the beginning that once he taught this to his friends and family, things started to line up in their lives. And a lot of things just started to make sense for me. It helped me understand God in a much more profound and meaningful way.
Starting at the Garden of Eden and with Adam and Eve through the Cross to today. It highlighted that it is always His plan to bring us back into Union with Him, which it was like in the Garden of Eden. How much He loved the Jews, and  used them in redemptive history to point to the Eucharist.

And the Lectio Prayer one is great too.  I hadn't read my bible in a while because I was afraid of interpreting it wrong.  I used to read it all the time as a Protestant and think that I could understand it.  But not I know that I need the guidance of the Catholic Church.  But also that that God is always there for us, and speaks to us through His word.  We just have to read and listen. And respond in prayer.  He is always there for us in His Word which is great to think of.”

Nine Day Novena and Chaplet of Divine Mercy

Nine Day Novena and Chaplet of Divine Mercy

St. Faustina wrote that Jesus told her:
"On each day of the novena you will bring to My heart a
different group of souls and you will immerse them in this
ocean of My mercy ... On each day you will beg My Father, on
the strength of My passion, for the graces for these souls."
