A message from the Admininstrator of St. Patrick Church

Brothers and sisters,

This afternoon there was an incident in the area of Penn Park during the time of dismissal.  During that time St. Patrick School was placed on lockdown from about 3pm – 3:40pm as a precaution.  All of our students are safe!!!
Please allow me to thank all our staff and teachers who responded appropriately during this situation.

Sincerely,

Fr. Keith Michael Carroll

Important information in regards to Parish/School phone lines

Important information in regards to Parish/School lines

Late this afternoon I noticed an issue with our phone line.  I have called Comcast and they will be sending a technician out tomorrow during the day.  Right now individuals are able to call the parish and the school, however it is a possibility the set up could fail in the meantime especially if we get high traffic of calls.  If for some reason you cannot get ahold of the parish or the school tomorrow morning/early afternoon please be patient…we are working to have the problem fixed!

Thank you!!!

Fr. C.

A priest's experience of the Sacrament of Reconciliation!

In a follow up post to yesterdays blog post on the Sacrament of Reconciliation I decided to post a reflection from the priests side in the confessional.  If you have a few moments I encourage everyone to take some time to read it.

Pope Francis says "Be courageous and go to confession"

Today Pope Francis at his Wednesday Audience spoke of the importance of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Here is a link to the National Catholic Registers article on todays general audience.

Please allow me to reecho our Holy Father's words if its been a long time "do not let another day pass by."  The Sacrament of Reconciliation is an awesome gift which is why I offer it so often.

Mission Trip to Guatemala

Dear Friend's in Christ,

As a result of a flight cancelation and the difficulty of getting the mission team down to Guatemala, it has been decided to cancel the mission trip.  While this is certainly disappointing, I am looking forward to working closely with our mission team in finding another way to support the mission in Guatemala.

Sincerely,

Fr. C.

Saint Patrick Church Parish Office and Winter Weather Advisory

Our Parish Office is now closed for February 14, 2014 due to some members of our staff clearing off the snow.  Please be patient in the coming weeks...we have had plenty of snow in recent weeks and the snow mounds are starting to pile up.

Please note a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued till tomorrow at 4pm.  We are doing our best to keep the lot clear, however due to the amount of snow it is becoming increasing difficult to clear the lots.

NO 8:30AM Mass

As per our policy when school is not in session due to the weather there will be NO 8:30AM Mass

Saint Patrick School closed tomorrow February 14th!

St. Patrick Catholic School will be CLOSED tomorrow, 2/14/14.

Happy Valentines Day! A wonderful opportunity for acts of love and kindness for family and neighbors.

Let us remember in prayer all those who provide long hours of service in this weather and all those suffering as a result of the cold and snow!

Confessions and 5:15pm Evening Mass for Thursday February 13, 2014

In light of the Declaration of Disaster in York County I have decided to cancel confessions at 4:30pm.  While I will still celebrate Mass at 5:15pm I am STONGLY encouraging everyone to stay home and pray for those affected by this winter storm.  At this point there is about a foot of snow in our parking lot and since York City declared a snow emergency there is no street parking.   With the declaration of disaster in York County people are advised "to avoid unnecessary travel."  The parking lots will most likely not be cleared to this evening since the storm is still ongoing and most snow removal companies priorities are to keep clear parking lots that service hospitals and medical facilities.

And as you can see by our cars...we aren't going anywhere anytime soon!  :)

Students Express Gratitude to the Parish for the Gift of a Catholic Education

Photo: "Together We Can Do Great Things"

Thank you to ALL who helped to make our celebration of Catholic Schools Week so wonderful! It was a true testament to the family spirit that exists among our students, staff, and families. In the coming weeks, letters that students wrote expressing their gratitude for the gifts and blessings of our school will be published on the website and in the parish bulletin.

St. Patrick Catholic School truly is "a collaborative ministry of the parish and school community". "Together we can"...provide our children with quality Catholic education...that IS a great thing! No family, truly desiring a Catholic education for their child(ren) is turned away from our school. This is possible because of the tremendous prayerful and financial support received from our Parish Family.

Let us pray in gratitude for this commitment to the future of our children!

Students from St. Patrick Catholic School wish to express their gratitude for the blessings of a Catholic Education.

Letters written by students during Catholic Schools Week 2014 can be found on the website:www.stpatrickyork.org

While there may be spelling or grammatical errors, the children express from their hearts the blessings of a Catholic education that they experience.

In addition to Saint Patrick School being closed , the parish office will also be closed tomorrow Thursday February 13th!  Please stay safe!!!

The Thursday Evening Mass at 5:15pm will still be celebrated (since of course I live here), however I strongly encourage everyone to remain home and join me in prayer at that time for those who are suffering in anyway as a result of this storm.

Welcome to the Saint Patrick Church Blog

Dear parishioners and visitors,

Welcome to the Saint Patrick Church York Blog!  It is my hope to use this tool as another form of communication.  Please check our blog regularly for important updates.  I look forward to working with you as we continue to move forward.  My theme moving forward is the very same one we are using for our school promotion "Together We Can."  Praying for one another and working together we can together continue to build and nourish our parish family.

Our faith is centered on Jesus Christ.  It is in our Lord we find our strength.  He is the Good Shepherd and our parish is very blessed with the Good Shepherd Adoration Chapel that serves the faithful of the York deanery.  May we always turn to our Lord who is the Good Shepherd and may we go forth modeling His example laboring in His vineyard!

Sincerely,
