As of the June meeting of the School Board, Father Carroll
has suppressed the School Board with the intent of creating a Board of
Education that will begin in August. The
Board of Education will be a broad based board to encompass the parish
religious education and the school. The
board will be divided into Committees (Facilities, Curriculum, Technology,
Social/Activities, and Marketing/Finances).
Members of the Board of Education will be on each committee but each
member of the committee will not necessarily be a member of the Board. The Board will include members of the
Pastoral Council, Parish Finance Council, and Parish Long Range Planning
Committee. The creation of this
collaborative Board of Education is a response to the School Climate &
Needs Survey conducted last fall in which the disconnect between the parish and
school was highlighted. Each parishioner
is invited to provide service to our parish and school as a member of one of
the committees. If you have interest in
one of the committee, your gifts and talents would be most welcome. Please contact Fr. Carroll, Mrs. Varholy, or
Mrs. Smith to express your interest. An
announcement of the members of the Board of Education and each committee will
be made in August as this new board begins its service to our Parish/School
Community.

Good Shepherd Perpertual Adoration Chapel...OPEN HOURS!
PLEASE CONSIDER SPENDING ONE HOUR WITH THE LORD JESUS!!!
“We must be present with and to the Lord, in silence as Mary
Practiced silence. We begin with silence
of the will, that is, willing nothing but the will of God. Begin here and the rest will come. The Holy Spirit will come upon you and you
will experience silence. Guard and
protect it with love and you will become a garden enclosed. Silence is the soil for the seed of the word.” Blessed Mother Theresa of Calcutta.
Come practice this silence in the Good Shepherd Perpetual Adoration Chapel. We have open hours that need to be filled in
order to keep the Chapel open 24/7.
Perhaps one of these will fit your schedule Tuesday 6am; Thursday 10am;
Friday 6am; Saturday 2am; Saturday 10pm

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE PASTOR...Ms. Mary Elizabeth Muir leaving as Principal...Father Carroll appoints Mrs. Kathleen Smith interim principal
Saint Patrick School
Staff Changes
It is with a
mixture of emotions that today I announce that Ms. Mary Elizabeth Muir will be
leaving as principal of St. Patrick School.
Ms. Muir has accepted a position as Chief Academic Officer with the Independence
Mission Schools a non-profit organization in the Philadelphia area whose
mission “is to provide sustainable, affordable, high-quality Catholic education
to children of all faiths in underserved urban neighborhoods, through a new
model of governance, funding, and accountability for the member schools.” While I am sad to lose Ms. Muir as our
principal, at the same time I am happy that she has been given this opportunity. Publically I want to thank her for her
commitment to Saint Patrick School but more importantly thank her for her commitment
overall to Catholic Education. Ms. Muir’s
last day will be Thursday July 31st.
With Ms.
Muir’s departure I have appointed Mrs. Kathleen Smith as interim principal of
Saint Patrick School for the 2014/2015 school year. Mrs. Smith has been in the principal program
in the diocese and has taught at our school for fourteen years. I am grateful for Mrs. Smith’s willingness to
serve as our interim principal and I am looking forward to working with her as
we move into the new academic year!
Sincerely,
Reverend Keith M. Carroll
Pastor

SCRIP Program Changes
Having made
changes to the SCRIP Program as required by the Diocese and tax laws for
non-profit organizations, Fr. Carroll, on the advice of the Finance Council,
has determined that the SCRIP Program, as it is currently functioning, is no
longer cost effective for our parish, due to decreased use. The following changes will be made effective
immediately:
1. Giant and Weis WILL continue to be available weekly after Masses and orders may be
placed through the school during the school year and will be filled on
Wednesdays.
2. Other Great Lake SCRIP cards in stock
will be sold but no new stock will be purchased.
3. SCRIP NOW
flyers will be available to those who wish to continue to purchase SCRIP on
line and print certificates at home.
These purchases will continue to benefit St. Patrick Parish, are
available immediately, and may be purchased with a credit card. ALL
are encouraged to explore this option.
Many thanks to those who use the SCRIP program to benefit the parish! We do ask you to consider the SCRIP NOW online option!

Security Project Update for the week of July 7th
Update on the Security Project
This week Crime Intervention has been around installing
cameras around the property, adding an alarm system to the Rectory and is
working on updating the security system in our school. They will also be monitoring the fire alarms
in the Church. On Wednesday they updated
our smoke alarms in the Church. For
those who struggle with the smoke generated from incense you will be happy to
know that we will now be able to put the incense in the sacristy after use since we replaced those smoke detectors with "heat sensors."
Crime Intervention will be around next week to finish
placing cameras around the property, setting up the DVR system to allow us to
monitor our property, and updating our security system. I am very happy with the work these guys are
doing.
Security cameras are mounted on our famous unfinished bell tower looking into the parking lot and along the front of the Church.

Saint Michael Prayer
Saint Michael Prayer
Beginning on Friday August 1, 2014 the Saint Michael Prayer
will be recited at the end of the weekday Masses. The Saint Michael prayer will not be recited
formally after the Sunday Masses or Holy Day of Obligations. However, I would encourage everyone to
consider making the Saint Michael prayer as part of the prayer after
thanksgiving following each weekend or Holy Day Mass.
Deacon Michael Bahn appointed to Diaconal Ministries here at St. Patrick Church
Deacon Michael Bahn appointed to assist at Saint Patrick
Church
The Most Reverend Ronald Gainer, Bishop of the Diocese of
Harrisburg has appointed Deacon Michael Bahn to Diaconal Ministries here at
Saint Patrick Church. I am truly
grateful to Bishop Gainer for appointing Deacon Mike to Saint Patrick Church
and looking forward to his ministry with us.
Saint Patrick Church is Deacon Mike’s home parish and so I would formally
like to welcome him home. Previously
Deacon Mike served at Saint John the Baptist in New Freedom and most recently
was helping out at my home parish of Saint Rose of Lima.
When you have the opportunity, please welcome Deacon Mike to
the parish. Deacon Mike joins Deacon Michael DeVivo who has been serving Saint Patrick Church since 2009. I am truly grateful to have their assistance in the pastoral ministry of the parish.
Plan Ahead and Mark York Calendars
Plan Ahead and Mark Your Calendars!!!
On Sunday August 24th 2014 we will be having our
parish picnic following the 10:45AM Mass.
Please consider joining your parish family that afternoon. Planning for the parish picnic is going on as
we speak. The next picnic meeting will
be Tuesday July 8th at 6:30pm.
We can really use more help.
Please read the parish bulletin for more information.
On Sunday August 31st 2014 Labor Day Weekend,
York City will be hosting a "Food Truck" event next door at Penn Park from 11AM –
6PM. Some people have contacted me
concerned about Mass times and parking.
Taking everything into consideration I have decided to cancel the Sunday
Evening Mass that Sunday. I will need
help keeping our lots clear for our parishioners for the 8AM and 10:45AM
Masses. Following the 10:45AM Mass both
lots next to the Church will be available for parking for those who wish to go
across the street for the event. For those coming for the 10:45AM Mass please note traffic around the Church may we congested...please consider that as you travel to Mass that Sunday.
